Money should be found for service

I was disappointed to read about government cuts in funding for TV captioning.

I was surprised, that with all of our governmental spending, we cannot find enough money to continue funding closed captioning for all television programs.

I was especially disturbed that a governmental agency is responsible for deeming which programs are “educational,” allowing them to be captioned. Just because a person is deaf, doesn’t mean that they should be excluded from watching the same garbage as hearing people.

I am glad to hear that some of the major networks are funding closed captioning, but until all networks are willing to do so, many people are missing out on a valuable service.
