Support effort to stop Kroger-Albertsons merger

The Jan. 17 article, “Washington AG sues to block merger of Kroger, Albertsons” deserves front page headlines because of its importance to consumers.
This merger if it is not stopped will eliminate competition. This reduction in competition can harm consumers by potentially leading to higher prices or fewer choices for products or services.Kroger is ranked No. 17 on the Fortune 500 rankings of the largest United States corporations by total revenue. If you think a corporation wants to merge to lower prices and give you better service, wake up! Corporations are there to make money for their owners and shareholders.
We don’t need to put smaller grocery stores out of business and I don’t want Kroger to go out of business. Where you buy your groceries is up to you. All we can do as consumers is let it be known that we are paying attention!
Thank you to our attorney general for protecting our consumer rights.
