There have been many presentations titled “This is Not Who We Are.” They are well meaning but somewhat out of focus.
Bitter political and social polarization have us literally at each other’s throats and many people are aimed toward armed confrontation as witnessed on Jan. 6. This is who we are.
In my view, a more appropriate slogan would be “This Is Not Who We Should Be”
Best of luck to President Biden and Vice president Harris. If they truly care about uniting us they would do well by reigning in the extreme components of their own party. Maybe then the GOP will reign in their own in response.
Find the common ground politically and the common good in all Americans will follow.
