What explains the close results in U.S. Senate race in Georgia?

I have followed the Senate race in Georgia with a mixture of amusement and apprehension.

How could this race have been so close?

After reading Eugene Robinson’s column about “competency or party,” I started to see the reasons why.

Turning to the Food and Drink section it was made even more clear to me.

According to writer Hunter Boyce, three of the largest fruitcake makers are in Georgia.
