What the hale does that mean?

I really do not object that little children’s play dolls reflect a broader cross-section of the human phenotype. (Julie Muhlstein Friday column, “Toys that reflect racial diversity haled as ‘about time’”)

However, I believe the egregious typographical error in the headline of Ms. Muhlstein’s article reflects on the professionalism of the editorial staff.

“Haled” means “to compel (someone) to go; to haul or pull” as in “the accused criminal was haled into court to face the judge.”

“Hailed” means “to cheer, salute, or greet; welcome; to acclaim or approve enthusiastically”

I am pretty sure the headline writer meant the latter.
