On full display on July 4 was the level of stupidity, immaturity and disrespect for the law of some in our community.
These are the “special people” to whom the total fireworks ban in southwest Snohomish County simply does not apply. It is a mystery that setting off incendiary devices under near-drought conditions can be construed in any way as honoring one’s country.
It does, however, raise two questions: First, how many other laws do these “special people” routinely ignore? And second, can or even should a civil society grounded in the rule of law tolerate such people?
