HILLSBORO, Ore. — Cole Barr drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning and five Everett AquaSox pitchers combined for a five-hit shutout as Everett edged the Hillsboro Hops 1-0 on Sunday at Ron Tonkin Field.
Alberto Rodriguez reached base in all four plate appearances, including a pair of doubles, and Justin Lavey had two hits for the AquaSox (27-29).
Everett starter Prelander Berroa struck out six and allowed only one hit over four innings. Fred Villarreal (2-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief. Kyle Hill struck out two in the ninth and earned his second save.
Neyfy Castillo had two hits, including a double, for the Hops (26-29).
Hillsboro starter Scott Randall (2-3) took the loss after allowing one run on two hits and four walks over three innings. Randall struck out three.
