AquaSox hold off Dust Devils to snap 6-game skid

Mike Salvatore and Dariel Gomez provide key hits in Everett’s 4-2 win.

PASCO — Mike Salvatore hit a go-ahead RBI double in the top of the fourth inning and the Everett AquaSox held on for a X-X win over the Tri-City Dust Devils on Wednesday evening to snap a six-game losing streak.

After the Dust Devils jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning, Dariel Gomez hit a two-run home run in the top of the second to pull the AquaSox even at 2-2.

Salvatore gave Everett the lead in the fourth and Cole Barr added an RBI groundout in the sixth to push the lead to 4-2.

Tim Elliott struck out the side in the ninth inning to secure his second save and an AquaSox win.

Jimmy Joyce started on the mound for Everett (49-54) and allowed two runs on five hits in six strong innings. Joyce struck out seven and walked two.

Joe Stewart and Mike Peabody each drove in runs for Tri-City (42-59).
