There were no Everett Silvertips selected Saturday on the second day of the NHL draft.
Everett had a handful of players, such as forwards Matt Ius and Jordan Mistelbacher and goaltender Shayne Barrie, who possibly could have been taken in the later rounds. However, none heard their names called during the draft’s seven rounds.
That left forward Kyle Beach as Everett’s only drafted player this year. Beach was taken 11th overall in Friday’s first round by the Chicago Blackhawks.
One player on Everett’s 50-player protected list was selected. Defenseman Max Nicastro, who plays for Chicago in the United States Hockey League, was taken with the final pick of the third round by the Detroit Red Wings. However, Nicastro is committed to play at Boston University and has given no indication he has interest in playing in the WHL.
