The Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame’s class of 2023 will be inducted at the organization’s annual banquet on Sept. 27 at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett. Here’s the next in a series of bios of the 2023 class highlighted by The Herald:
Kylin Munoz
Inducted as: Athlete
High school: Monroe class of 2009
Sport: Volleyball
Munoz was a high school volleyball superstar who went on to an all-conference collegiate career for NCAA volleyball power Washington.
Munoz, a 6-foot-1 outside hitter, was a dominator on the court during her time with the Bearcats. During her four years at Monroe, she led the Bearcats to four Class 4A state tournament appearances and was a three-time first-team All-Wesco selection. She was named the 2008 Washington Gatorade Player of the Year after her senior season.
During her four years at Washington, Munoz was known for her blocking acumen as an outside hitter. She completed her career with 368 blocks, the second-most ever at the school among outside hitters. As a senior in 2012, she led the Pac-12 in blocks per set by an outside hitter (1.22), led the conference in aces per set (0.32) and was second on the team in points per set (3.23), which earned her All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention honors. Then, as a fifth-year senior in 2013, she helped lead the Huskies to a 32-3 record and a place in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament, which resulted in her being named The Herald’s Woman of the Year in Sports for 2013.
After graduating, Munoz played professionally in Germany from 2014-15. She is currently an assistant coach at the University of Minnesota.
