Infielder-outfielder Bill Hall joined the Seattle Mariners on Thursday in Detroit. The M’s acquired Hall on Wednesday in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers.
To make room on their 25-man roster, the Mariners optioned left-handed pitcher Garrett Olson to Class AAA Tacoma.
Hall, 29, was batting .201 with 12 doubles, six home runs and 24 RBI in 76 games for the Brewers this season. He was designated for assignment Aug. 12.
Hall is a career .253 hitter over eight major-league seasons, with 177 doubles, 17 triples, 102 home runs and 367 RBI.
Olson, 25, was 3-5, 5.88 in 24 games, including 11 starts, with Seattle.
