Richard Harriman, a Monroe High School graduate originally from Maltby, will make his second career NASCAR start this Saturday in the Camping World Truck Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, N.H.
As he did in his July 24 NASCAR debut at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indiana, Harriman will be driving the No. 48 Chevy Silverado for owner Andy Hillenburg’s Fast Track Racing team. His sponsors for the Heluva Good! 200 will be Rockingham Speedway, which is owned by Hillenburg, and RH Motorsports, the team Harriman co-owns with his father Howard Harriman.
Howard Harriman said the team’s goal for this weekend is to work on pit stops and to race well enough to convince NASCAR to upgrade Richard Harriman’s competition license to include 1.5 mile tracks.
At ORP, Richard Harriman ran to nearly the halfway point of the race before pulling off. He finished 27th but NASCAR officials were pleased enough with his performance to approve him to race on 1-mile tracks like Loudon.
Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race will be broadcast live on SPEED at noon.
