PASCO — Robert Perez Jr. struck out with the tying run on second base in the ninth inning as an Everett AquaSox rally fell just short in a 3-2 loss to the Tri-City Dust Devils on Thursday night.
Down by two entering the final frame, Ben Ramirez homered to lead off the inning to cut Everett’s deficit to 3-2. Victor Labrada followed with a pinch-hit single before Ty Duvall popped out to second for the first out. Labrada stole second base, but Trent Tingelstad flied out to left and Perez struck out to end the threat and the game.
The home run by Ramirez was his first in seven games for the AquaSox since being promoted from Low-A Modesto.
Jordan Jackson started on the mound for Everett (49-55) and allowed two runs, one earned, in five innings. Jackson struck out two and walked two.
Gabe Matthews, Joe Stewart and Steven Rivas each drove in a run for Ti-City (43-59).
