NELLES CORNERS, Ontario — Justin Allgaier won the Cayuga ARCA RE/MAX 250 on Sunday, beating Frank Kimmel by 1.166 seconds at Cayuga Motor Speedway.
Tayler Malsam, of Mill Creek, Wash., finished 11th.
Allgaier, driving father Mike Allgaier’s No. 16 Zoller &Bergfield Farming-AG Tech Chevrolet, recovered from a mid-race spin, raced his way back into the lead, survived two late restarts, and then drove away from Kimmel and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
“This racetrack was really cool and it means a lot to me to win here,” Allgaier said. “We got turned around and everything and tried to come back from that. We had to check up a little bit there and he (Stenhouse) got into us. No hard feelings there.”
Stenhouse was third on the 0.625-mile track, followed by Dexter Bean, Pete Shepherd, Matt Carter, Tom Hessert III, Scott Speed and John Wes Townley.
The 257-lap race was slowed by 18 caution periods that consumed 106 laps.
