Mariners hire Hines as third-base coach

SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners have named Bruce Hines as their third-base coach.

The rebuilding team announced its latest move Thursday. Hines, like most of Seattle’s new coaching staff, has experience in the AL West. He has spent the last few seasons as a roving minor league instructor with the Los Angeles Angels.

Seattle still has to hire a hitting coach.

The entire 2009 staff, including general manager Jack Zduriencik, was not with Seattle to begin the 2008 season.
