I had the fortune of covering Marshawn Lynch during his final season with the Seattle Seahawks in 2015, but needless to say that didn’t entail actually speaking to Lynch or asking him any questions. By that point it had long been established that the Pro Bowl running back wasn’t speaking to the media. I remember just before the 2015 season started there were reports of Lynch being threatened with fines by NFL for shunning the media, and the Seahawks media relations people said Lynch would be made available. But it never happened, and not once was I involved in a press conference or media scrum that involved Lynch.
Lynch retired after the 2015 season. But now he’s back, coming out of retirement to play for his hometown Oakland Raiders. And yesterday Lynch held an actual press conference with the Oakland media following one of the Raiders’ OTAs.
So since we in the Pacific Northwest were starved of comments from Lynch, I figured I’d share yesterday’s press conference:
