SPOKANE — Nick McCrary scored just ten seconds into overtime as the Spokane Chiefs beat the Everett Silvertips 3-2 on Wednesday evening at Veterans Memorial Arena.
Trailing 2-1, Niko Huuhtanen potted his 37th goal of the season on assists from Olen Zellweger and Michal Gut early in the second period to tie the game for the Silvertips.
But Everett couldn’t put the game away for good in a scoreless third period and Spokane took home the win in overtime.
Zellweger opened the scoring in the game at 4:41 in the first period on assists from Austin Roest and Jackson Berezowski.
Chase Bertholet and Cade Hayes followed with goals of their own in the opening period for the Chiefs.
Koen MacInnes stopped 28 of 31 shots in the game for Everett (44-10-5-5).
Mason Beaupit made 32 saves for Spokane (23-37-4-1).
