BRANDON, Manitoba — Stelio Mattheos had a hat trick and Lynden McCallum added two goals as the Brandon Wheat Kings beat the Everett Silvertips 5-2 on Friday night.

After the Wheat Kings scored twice in the first period on goals from McCallum and Mattheos, Sahvan Khaira netted a power-play goal at 13:28 in the second period to pull the Silvertips to within one.

The Wheat Kings responded with goals from McCallum and Mattheos before Connor Dewar added a power-play goal with time running down in the period to cut Brandon’s lead to 4-2.

The score remained that way until Mattheos drove in an empty-netter just before time expired.

Dustin Wolf had 26 saves for the Silvertips (6-4-0). Jiri Patera had 36 saves for the Wheat Kings (6-1-1).
