SEATTLE — The expansion Seattle Sounders have acquired two-time All-Star defender Tyrone Marshall from Toronto FC for cash.
The Sounders announced the deal Tuesday. It will bring the 34-year-old member of the Jamaican national team to Seattle for his 12th season in MLS.
Seattle sent Toronto an undisclosed amount of allocation money.
Sounders coach Sigi Schmid says he values Marshall for his speed and his championship experience. Marshall was on the Los Angeles Galaxy’s MLS title teams in 2002 and ‘05. Los Angeles traded him to Toronto midway through the 2007 season.
He has 13 goals and 17 assists in 248 career MLS games.
