Wow! The Jackson High School volleyball team steamrolled to the 4A state championship, sweeping Issaquah 3-0 tonight in the tournament final in Kennewick. According to the WIAA’s online bracket, Jackson won by game scores of 25-13, 25-22, 25-12 — very impressive.
Western Conference South Division and District 1 champion Jackson (19-1) is the first Wesco team to win a state volleyball title. No Wesco team had even advanced to the championship match since Marysville-Pilchuck did it in 2003.

Congrats to the Jackson High School volleyball team, which beat mighty Mead of Spokane 3-1 today in the Class 4A state semifinals in Kennewick.
Ranked No. 2 in the state coaches’ poll, Jackson (18-1) plays sixth-ranked Issaquah for the 4A title at 6 p.m. tonight at the Toyota Center. Issaquah advanced to the final by beating No. 7 Olympia 3-1 today in the other semifinal.
On Thursday, Day 1 of the two-day 4A tournament, Jackson swept No. 10 Bellarmine Prep and unranked Gig Harbor.
Snohomish, the other Wesco team that qualified for the 4A tournament, swept Kentwood today in the fifth/eighth-place match. It’s the best state finish for unranked Snohomish (18-3) since the Panthers placed fourth in 2005.
