Kiwanis Club to discuss Aurora

The Shoreline Kiwanis Club invites residents to its 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 13 meeting, which will feature guest speaker Kirk McKinley, Aurora Corridor Project Manager. McKinley will give a 20-minute presentation on the Aurora Corridor Project and will entertain questions. The Kiwanis Club, which meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, supports local children’s charities and sponsors a Key Club for high school students. The meeting will be held at Spiros Pizza and Pasta, on 185th Street and Aurora Avenue N.

Doyle to read at Third Place Books

Author Margaret Doyle will be reading from her book, “The Fisherman’s Quilt” at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 29 at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park.

The Fisherman’s Quilt is now in its third printing, having sold more than 2,400 copies in its first year. Doyle lived in Edmonds from 1983 to 1998, and worked as a “Communities” reporter for the Everett Herald under the name Margaret Steele. 

Swim club offers water aerobics

 The Northridge Swim Club is offering water aerobics classes in its outdoor pool this summer, located at 811 NE. 201st St. in Shoreline. Classes started July 5, from 8-9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Cost is $30 per month or $5 drop-in fee per class. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 206-362-9675. 

 

Lewis named Shoreline Star

The city of Shoreline announced that Jeff Lewis has been selected as a Shoreline Star. He will be the 10th star honored at a Shoreline City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. July 11.

Lewis is being honored for his contribution to the Shoreline community. He has been involved with many organizations, including Shoreline Community College, Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council and Shoreline Rotary.

Lewis is one of 12 Shoreline Stars to be honored at upcoming City Council meetings through August 15.
