Activities: I have been a DECA member throughout high school and I am currently the president of my chapter. This is my eighth year of playing the cello in orchestra. I am the Layout Editor of my school’s Yearbook and I can beat just about anyone at the Harry Potter Scene It! game.
Honors/awards: National Honor Society, School’s Honor Roll, will be having a biography published in the National Honor Roll as well, Guard of the Month for May ‘06.
Community service: Through DECA I am able to do things like serve food to the homeless, help Junior Achievement with auctions and help with the annual Civic Lights in Lynnwood. I raised toys and money for the Starlight Starbright Foundation, which benefits seriously ill children and their families and raised over $550 for the foundation.
Employment: I have worked at the city of Lynnwood as a lifeguard for over two years.
Future: I would like to go to UW or WSU and study International Business. I have always wanted to see the world and so I decided that a career in International Business would be the best way to do that.
Other: 1890 SAT (1310 combined reading and math), three AP classes and two Honors English classes.

Marissa Novelo

Activities: My friends and I started the Hip-Hop Club and Step Team at Meadowdale but I am actively involved in the Mock Trial club too. I like to walk into every club looking at the fun things they do but I feel that if I join the club I must be committed to it and the ones listed above are my priority clubs even though I enjoy all the diverse clubs that Meadowdale has to offer. I’m currently one of the five Senior Class Senator Officers for the class of 2007. I’m the manager for the girls basketball team and I go to a lot of the home games for the different sports.
Honors/awards: National Honors Society, The National Society of High School Scholars, Student of the Month for Health Class, Best Dress Up award for Link Crew, placed in state at the Mock Trial competition in Olympia.
Employment: I’m currently employed at the Alderwood JC Penney’s as a Sales Associate. I’ve been working there for over a year and was originally a seasonal worker but was kept for permanent position.
Future: I plan to go into a business career and hopefully own my own dance studio in the future. I also want to pursue real estate and economics because of all of my prior knowledge in that area due to my family being quite involved in it. Law is another field I have been really interested in since I first started studying in high school, so that might be another field I might venture into.
Future career: I really want to be a diplomat for a another country and hope that one day in the future I’ll be prosperous enough to travel the world and have a home in the Philippines. I’m also pulling for enough experience to own my own corporation and help kids find a positive way to spend their time other than all the negative things that they might see on TV and magazines or hear in today’s music.
Other: I’m a captain on the local dance team that I dance for outside of school. My team is called Kontagious and we have two sub-groups, Sick and Kontagious Movement. We perform at all kinds of events such as out of town celebrities from the Philippines/Japan and local charity events, including the Seattle Center House. We also dance for the high schools around the district and we have members from all over Washington state. We are all very social people and love to share our gift of dancing to make everyone smile and feel the joy that we feel when we dance.

Scriber Lake
Melissa Carey
Activities: She is a member of the Women of Wisdom (WOW) group at the school. This is a program designed to work on relational aggression among high school students. Each girl has a personal mentor that she meets with on a weekly basis. Melissa played violin and was in the choir during middle school. She also ran track and cross country. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and volunteers once a week in the kitchen.
Future: Graduating June 2008. Melissa wants to pursue a career in the health care field. She wants to help people in her career.
Other: Melissa has overcome many health and personal obstacles and should be proud of her accomplishments.
Taylor Jewett
Activities: Jewett entered the school as a freshman and has been involved in the Diversity Club and Women of Wisdom (WOW) program for two years. She is also active on the after-school project Youth and Justice forum.
Future: Will graduate in June 2009. Jewett has always wanted to be a criminal justice attorney. She plans on going to the Criminal Justice program through Intra-district or Sno-Isle Skills Center next year. She will go to college right after high school graduation.
