Marine Lance Cpl. Tyler B. Farmer has been deployed to Iraq. Farmer, a Lake Stevens resident and 2000 graduate of Lake Stevens High School, graduated from Henry Cogswell College in 2003. He then joined the Marines and is currently with the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, Kilo Company, 3rd Platoon out of Camp Pendleton, Calif. He is the son of Charles and Marty Farmer of Lake Stevens.
Army Pvt. Eileen H. Rausch has graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Rausch is the daughter of Don Rausch of Marysville and granddaughter of Donald K. Rausch Sr. of Snohomish. She is a 2003 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
Air Force Airman Daniel R. Wiggins has arrived for duty at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. Wiggins, a telephone maintenance apprentice, is assigned to the 52nd Communications Squadron. He is the son of Daniel Wiggins of Freeland and Camilla Wiggins of Portland, Ore.
Army Reserve Pfc. Kathryn M. Harms has graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Harms is the daughter of William and Peggy Harms of Everett. She is a 2003 graduate of Cascade High School.
Ning-Yi Zheng has been awarded an Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps college scholarship. The cadet was selected on the basis of comprehensive test scores, high school scholastic achievement, school officials’ evaluations, extra-curricular activities and community involvement. She is the daughter of Jim Zheng and Jane Ye of Bothell.
Trevor B. McCombs has enlisted in the Army as an infantry soldier. McCombs, who is expected to graduate next year from Bothell High School, is the son of Deann McCombs of Bothell and Scott McCombs of Blandinsville, Ill. He will leave for basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., in June 2005.
Ryan La Londe, son of David La Londe of Everett and Sandy Eastwood of Burlington, recently participated in the U.S. Naval Academy’s weeklong summer seminar program in Annapolis, Md. The seminar program, which includes a regimen of academics, physical training, sports, sailing and seamanship, gives students a taste of the challenges and benefits of a Naval Academy education.
Army Pvt. Travis G. Petersen has graduated from basic training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Petersen is a 1999 graduate of Oak Harbor High School and is the son of Charlotte Beck of Oak Harbor.
