Officers must accept situation

In regard to the June 27 article, “$50 million claim filed to highlight shortage of deputies”: Law enforcement officers have for years worked with a shortage of manpower. This has always been the downside in the law enforcement communities, and will continue to be so as the public they serve desires to spend its monies elsewhere.

Unfortunately, officers can’t always depend on backup or adequate help, and have to enter on occasion into harm’s way. If this is beyond their capabilities or intestinal fortitude, perhaps they could better serve the citizens of Snohomish County by selling shoes at Penney’s!
