Serve God on own not public, time

I had to respond to Ken and Delores Gray’s July 30 letter, “Koster campaign: Koster is serious, worthy candidate.” They defend his numerous attempts at public positions by saying, “Most of us want a job that is in our best interest.” I do not need to elaborate on that statement – it speaks for itself.

They support John Koster’s desire to serve God in government. Correct me if I’m wrong, but my expectation is that our elected officials will serve the electorate in government. I have no quarrel with Koster wanting to serve God, but he should do so on his own time – I do not wish to pay him to promote his own narrow religious agenda.

Why is it that some Christians believe that only people of their faith have good character and strong values? Are all of the rest of us truly evil and without honor? Absolutely not, and I am sure I am not the only one offended whenever hearing or reading that opinion.

Last but not least – Koster’s support for Freedom County. Here’s my suggestion: John Koster should run for representative, not of Snohomish County, but of Freedom County. I am sure that he is just the type of guy that Thom Satterlee and his band of extremists could really get behind.
