No fancy Navigator in their fleet

Regarding Phil Hartvigson’s Aug. 15 letter, “Transportation: No matter what, no need for new taxes”: Mr. Hartvigson was passed by a Lincoln Navigator with exempt plates and he said he would not vote for Community Transit’s proposal for additional funds. I assure you that CT doesn’t have such a vehicle. In fact, three of our operations managers (who are on call 24/7) are only allotted Chevrolet Blazers. I called the motor pool in Olympia and asked if they could identify the agency with the Navigator. Their response was that in their jurisdiction they do not have a Navigator and that perhaps Mr. Hartvigson was passed by an Expedition which are in the State Patrol’s fleet. The motor pool manager did say that it was possible that one of the elected officials of the state may have a Navigator but he thought it would not be likely.

In regards to CT’s request for additional funds: The need is evident if one looks at the reduced service that Snohomish County has experienced with the withdrawal of funds since Initiative 695. Absolute at forefront is that there is no service on Sundays.

Every operator, mechanic, staff and management personnel at CT are doing everything they can to put buses on the streets for Snohomish County. CT is proposing the additional funding and has stated that with passage of the initiative, cut service will be restored. It is up to the Snohomish County resident to “make it so.”
