Politicians must think ahead on rail

Nels Konnerup does make one good point in his letter in the Nov. 15 Herald, (“JSF contract: Region’s woes make area unattractive”). It’s the fact that if the politicos and all the other people of the time had been thinking ahead we would have a mass transit system in place now. I say we build the original light rail system proposed by Sound Transit that goes from Everett to SeaTac.

Because if we build the system that only goes to Northgate and doesn’t go to SeaTac, when they do finally get around to building it, it is going to cost even more in the future to do so. Of course there is something to be said for the state to shift its spending priorities so that there is enough money for progressive things like a light rail system – what a concept.
