MILL CREEK – Andrea Jones hit a 3-point goal with 11 seconds remaining in regulation to bring Jackson to within a point of Shorecrest. But Lindsey Dennis calmly made two free throws off an ensuing foul that sealed a 44-37 Western Conference South Division victory for Shorecrest Friday night.
Shorecrest’s victory improved its record to 9-6 in league and 11-6 overall and put the Scots within a half game of third-place Jackson (10-6, 12-6) in the Wesco South standings.
Jackson could have sealed a district playoff spot with a win, but now is still looking for another victory or an Edmonds-Woodway loss to get its playoff berth.
Haley Martin scored a team-high 17 points for the Scots.
“Martin broke our zone down like you wouldn’t believe,” Jackson coach Julie Iverson said. “We’ve got to give them credit. They came to play and we didn’t.”
