KCTS seeks comfort food recipes for TV special

Published 9:00 pm Tuesday, September 23, 2003

The next “KCTS Cooks” viewer cooking special will feature comfort food recipes.

Public television viewers throughout Washington state and British Columbia are invited to submit original recipes for soups, main dishes and desserts and, if selected, to demonstrate preparation of the dishes in front of the camera during the November broadcast.

In addition to the viewer demonstrations, the program will feature two pre-taped segments: preparation of pumpkin muffins and banana bread by Gabe Ellenberg of Honey Bear Bakery in Lake Forest Park, and a demonstration of Death by Chocolate by Em Bergeson of Magnolia in Shelton.

To enter, send the typed recipe (including the number of servings it makes), viewer’s name and street address, e-mail address (if any), daytime telephone number, a brief description of the recipe’s origin and what makes it a great comfort food, and brief information about the person submitting the recipe.

Enter via e-mail to cooks@kcts.org, or send via regular mail to KCTS Cooks, 401 Mercer St., Seattle, WA 98109.

The deadline is Oct. 13.
