Snohomish County dogs and cats can get free identification microchips implanted 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Animal Shelter.

The first 500 Snohomish County resident dogs and cats brought to 2732 36th St. will receive free microchips that identify the pet’s owner if lost.

To reach the shelter, turn east at the Brown Bear Car Wash at 36th Street and Broadway in Everett, go under the I-5 overpass, then watch for the shelter on the right.

Cats must be in a carrier and dogs must be on a leash. The free event is sponsored by the Snohomish County Animal Advisory Board in conjunction with the Everett Animal Shelter and the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office licensing division, with support from volunteer veterinarians.

When the Bayside Neighborhood Association meets at 7 tonight, they hope to hear stories about Clark Park at 2400 Lombard St., Everett.

The first park in Everett is the subject of an oral history project. Bring stories and pictures about the park, gazebo or tennis courts to the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave., Everett. Everett library historian David Dilgard will talk about the park and show historical slides.

Volunteer training for Senior-to-Senior Peer Support begins March 31 in Everett.

Those 55 or older who are interested in helping other older adults with emotional support are urged to join the training.
