SEATTLE – Snohomish sophomore Kelsey Randolf reeled off victories in the 50-meter freestyle and 100 butterfly Saturday to help the Panthers rally from behind and defeat non-conference foe Bainbridge 91-79 at Hec Edmundson Pool on the campus of the University of Washington.

The Panthers, who lost to Bellevue 101-69 earlier in the day, improved to 2-3 overall.

“I am very happy with the split,” Snohomish coach John Pringle said. “The thing is, Bellevue and Bainbridge were the top two teams in the 3A state meet last year, so this was a high-powered field. Our team really pulled through.”

Snohomish overcame a 32-30 deficit after the first four events, thanks to back-to-back victories by Randolf and Kirsten Behla. Randolf won the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:02.23 and Behla captured the 100 freestyle in 57.50.

“It’s good for our young team to compete against such competitive teams,” Pringle said. “It prepares them for when they are at state. They won’t be surprised by the kind of competition that is there.”
