You can’t dictate who comes downtown

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read David Olson’s article about cleaning up downtown Everett (“Everett presses city core cleanup,” Thursday). To think that Joel Starr and “city officials” would dictate who may or may not locate or frequent downtown Everett is absurd. Maybe we could set up check points to assure that anyone wishing to enter is properly attired and can prove sufficient income before being allowed through the velvet ropes. Better yet, why not just gather up all the lower income, plasma-giving, church-going, social service-seeking masses and consign them to internment camps so as not to offend the good people of Everett. Joel Starr has revealed his true colors – with his eye on one thing, the bottom line.
