Governor’s plan promotes socialism

The Jan. 20 article “Gregoire puts her focus on health care” emphasizes the governor’s socialist agenda. “Keeping 19,000 children from being dropped … ” reeks of grabbing the hot button of uninsured children. It’s the Legislature, and Gregoire’s party, that mandated the income cap of those who can qualify for “Basic Health Care” way back in 1992. For many years, there were no audits of a family’s income. Then a couple years ago an audit was started. Thousands of families didn’t even respond, they got coverage on their own. There were many on this tax-subsidized plan that made more than $100,000 annually, and we were paying for their coverage with our tax dollars!
Regarding assistance for long-term care: Hey, go out and buy the insurance coverage for it. It’s not that expensive if you plan. Be responsible for your own future, don’t expect the public to pay your way because you failed to plan ahead for yourself!
Again, the governor is pushing a socialist philosophy instead of promoting personal responsibility. I’ll address the health insurance coverage under a state government-run plan another time. I’m boiling enough already.
