Lake Stevens takes sole possession of first place

LAKE STEVENS – Lake Stevens capitalized on the lone two walks issued by the Marysville-Pilchuck pitcher to score a 2-0 victory over the Tomahawks in a key Wesco North softball game Tuesday.
The win puts Lake Stevens alone in first place in the division with a 4-0 league record. M-P (2-1, 5-1) suffered its first defeat.
Lake Stevens loaded the bases on the first walk, which followed a single and a hit batter, and scored the game’s first run on the second.
Karissa Tri, who batted 3-for-3, then drove in an insurance run with a single.
Lake Stevens pitcher Krista Crosson threw a two-hit shutout, striking out eight batters.
