Something really wrong with premise

I can’t wait for Initiative 933 to become law. Maybe I will be able to retire someday after all!

When the state compensates me for taking away my capacity – all in the name of the public good – to profit by running a brothel out of my home, a marijuana farm in my backyard and a meth lab in my garden shed, I’ll be sitting pretty.

Is that really any different from the extortion that would compensate property owners for not destroying the environment that sustains all life?
