EVERETT – A 12-year-old boy suffered critical head injuries and a compound leg fracture in a hit-and-run in the Lowell neighborhood shortly after 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Police late Monday were searching for a white, full-size Ford pickup from the mid- to late-1970s believed to have struck the boy, who was skateboarding. Witnesses told police the vehicle was raised up on large wheels and had a loud engine.

The boy’s backpack, skateboard and a shoe lay near the intersection of Main Street and S. Third Avenue. His mother accompanied him in an ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Everett police Lt. Robert Johns said.
