EVERETT – Two days after her body was found in a dumpster outside a north Everett house, investigators have identified Angela Hay.

Hay, 42, of Everett was reportedly killed about three weeks ago and kept inside a closet until Sunday.

She died of blunt injuries to her head and a wound to her neck, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office reported Tuesday.

An Everett construction worker is being held in connection with her death. Sean Hamill, 25, was being held at the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second-degree murder. His bail was set at $500,000.

Police arrested Hamill on Sunday, shortly after a woman reported that Hamill had asked her to help him move a body.

Investigators said Hamill admitted to hitting Hay on the head with a hammer, slitting her throat and keeping her in the closest until the smell was unbearable, according to court documents filed in Everett District Court. He allegedly moved her body Sunday to the dumpster behind his apartment in the 2600 block of Rockefeller Avenue.

Hamill told investigators he attacked Hay after she threatened to instruct her sons to kill him and steal marijuana plants growing in his bedroom, according to a police affidavit.

The pair reportedly had just met in an alley next to a downtown bar.

Hay was known to Everett police, with at least a half-dozen arrests since 2002 for street crime. She served time in the county jail last month for criminal trespass.
