EVERETT — Snohomish County is accepting applications for up to $9 million in conservation futures grants.
Applications for projects that help preserve the county’s natural spaces, protect habitats, support agriculture and forestry, and expand opportunities for outdoor recreation can be submitted until 5 p.m. Sept. 18, a press release said.
Eligible applicants include cities, towns, county agencies and conservation organizations. For more information on the grant policies and how to apply, visit snohomishcountywa.gov/141.
The Conservation Futures Program Advisory Board will review the applications during its regular meeting Sept. 28 and recommend to the Executive and Snohomish County Council in October.
“The Conservation Futures Program has helped direct more than $80 million toward preserving Snohomish County’s natural spaces,” Executive Dave Somers said in the release. “This program has allowed our communities to invest in preservation efforts all over the county, and our people and environment will benefit from that work for generations.”
The program began distributing conservation futures property tax funds in 1988.
