Bad, Bad, Bad

The last two games are a good example of why it would be nice for Tyrone Willingham to open up practice to the media. This isn’t another complaint about practice being closed, but we were led to believe the entire fall that the secondary – especially Roy Lewis – had really improved. But what we’ve seen in the first two games is a secondary that is again totally overmatched, and Lewis doesn’t look any better than last year, and he wasn’t very good last year. The Huskies are trying to jam Oklahoma’s receivers at the line and just getting killed.

The Washington defensive front has been pretty good, but it doesn’t matter because whenever the Sooners need to make a play, they just throw to what is almost always their choice of open receivers.

The game was over when Isaiah Stanback fumbled the ball away at the 4 yard line. Now it’s just a matter of the Huskies continuing to compete. They have to at least finish strong to feel somewhat good about this game. But it doesn’t look good. When the third quarter ended, Oklahoma’s entire team ran out onto the field to greet its defense, while most of the Huskies remained on the bench. That tells me these guys are gassed, and the fourth quarter could get ugly.
