First Fresno Look

The Huskies will hold their weekly media lunch this afternoon where we’ll ask what they know about Fresno State, and they’ll tell us they haven’t started to watch film of the Bulldogs yet, but if they do say anything, we’ll let you know. Fresno State coach Pat Hill will be on the WAC coaches teleconference in a little more than an hour, and we’ll give you an idea of anything interesting he says as well.

Here’s a notebook from today’s Fresno Bee http://www.fresnobee.com/sports/bulldogs/story/12701173p-13398764c.html that talks about, among other things, the trouble Fresno State is having with its special teams. Sounds kind of familiar.

Also, here’s a look back at my Pac-10 picks last week, and what really happened

Boise State vs. Oregon State: What I said: Boise State 32-26; What happened: Boise State 42-14: I was way off, as OSU looked pretty terrible against a good Boise team.

Arizona vs. LSU: What I said: LSU 39-13; What happened: LSU 45-3: I figured it would be a blowout, but I didn’t think it would be that bad. This has to be a blow to the Wildcats.

Arizona State vs. Nevada: What I said: Arizona State 35-21; What happened: Arizona State 52-21: Great game for the Sun Devils, who put up even more points than I thought they would.

California vs. Minnesota: What I said: California 30-26; What happened: California 42-17: This is the Cal team many expected to see, and an outstanding reaction to the disappointing Tennessee loss.

Oregon vs. Fresno State: What I said: Oregon 30-25; What happened: Oregon 31-24: I was pretty close on this one, and it did turn out to be a great game and a great Ducks win.

Stanford vs. San Jose State: What I said: Stanford 44-12; What happened: San Jose State 35-35: I was way, way off on this, obviously. I thought the Cardinal would turn things around, but apparently it could be a long, long year for Stanford.

UCLA vs. Rice: What I said: UCLA 29-10; What happened: UCLA 26-16: Pretty close on this one as the Bruins didn’t look nearly as good as they did in their win over Utah.

Washington State vs. Idaho: What I said: Washington State 44-19; What happened: Washington State 56-10: I thought that the Cougars would recover from the Auburn game and they did in a big way.

Washington vs. Oklahoma: What I said: Oklahoma 37-8; What happened: Oklahoma 37-20: I got the Sooners’ points right, but the Huskies did a bit more than I thought on offense.

Week record: 8-1. Season record: 15-3.
