Nickel Not Working

The Washington nickel defense isn’t working. I understand why the Huskies are in it – they need as much speed as possible on the field against the spread-option attack – but Oregon is running all over the Huskies. The defensive front is getting man-handled with the UW defensive tackles and Dan Howell on the bench. Oregon went 94 yards – all on the ground – on that last scoring drive. The Ducks averaged about 8.6 yards a carry. We’ll see if they get out of the nickel or stick with it. Washington has to respond with points here.
