Not Bad

Given that Washington still can’t put together any kind of drive, to be tied at 14 at the half has to be a best-case scenario. Washington’s hasn’t moved the ball on the ground at all, though Louis Rankin’s over-shiftiness finally paid off with the Huskies’ first touchdown by a running back since the Arizona game. Carl Bonnell is not playing well, making some really poor decisions, but Cody Ellis bailed him out with a miraculous catch, and Marlon Wood finally broke a big return, aided by a huge block by Quintin Daniels.

The defense is playing pretty well, getting some pressure on Alex Brink, but the third downs are really killing Washington, and the Huskies are hurting themselves with five penalties for 40 yards. Washington is 1-for-6 on third down, WSU is 6-for-10.

Washington really needs to keep getting some breaks and find a way to run the ball and control the clock. But the fact that it’s a close game has to be pretty encouraging.
