Snohomish gets the jump on Cascade

SNOHOMISH – The Snohomish Panthers started quick and finished strong to capture a Western Conference North Division wrestling meet, 59-14 Tuesday night at Snohomish High School.

The first three bouts were over in eight minutes, giving the Panthers (2-0 league, 3-0 overall) a early 18-0 lead.

John Kopet (171 pounds) Spencer Caraballo (189) and Mike Maybin (215) all recorded quick pins and Snohomish never looked back.

“We started out fast and set the tone for the night early on,” Snohomish coach Kevin Judkins said.

Everett 47, Marysville-Pilchuck 27: At Everett, Everett’s Cole Anderson won the battle of the team captains over Monroe’s Jesse Masten with an 8-4 decision at 152 pounds to lead the Seagulls to the Wesco North victory. Dylan Stratis pinned his opponent in the second round at 119 to help Everett.

However, Meadowdale recorded three straight pins by Nick Montanari (171), Travis Cramer (189) and Danny McKinney (215) to trim the deficit to three points going into the last two bouts. Jackson heavyweight Kelly Kapalo and 103-pounder Jared Mead came through with pins to put the meet away.
