Edmonds authors Amanda Laughtland and Marcia Woodard will give a reading at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Washington’s Women’s Center, Cunningham Hall, near the NE 40th Street and 15th Avenue NE entrance to the UW campus in Seattle. Call 206-685-1090 for details. Laughtland writes poetry and Woodard writes a column for the American Kennel Club magazine.
Author Kit Bakke will read from and sign “Miss Alcott’s E-mail: Yours for Reforms of All Kinds,” at 7 p.m. Thursday at Edmonds Bookshop. The book shows another view of Louisa May Alcott as a social reformer and women’s rights advocate, many of the qualities she placed on her character of Jo in “Little Women.”
Mill Creek author and photographer Michele Westmorland’s “Ocean Duets” is the result of her “two-of-a-kind” mission to capture underwater pairs on film. She’ll talk about her fascinating photographic studies for the book at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Third Place Books.
