50 years ago (1957)

Pay’n Save Drugs, at 2709-11 Colby Ave., was increasing its floor space 50 percent into 2713, the building to the south that had housed Binyon Optical Co. This would give them 75 feet along Colby Ave. Manager Paul Ross said a retail entrance from the alley and the Sears parking lot would be added. Binyon had moved one block north.

Casimer J. Dallin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Einar Dallin, 2307 Fulton St., and Wayne W. Young, son of Mr. and Mrs. B.W. Young, Rt. 2, were studying the supply course at Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming. Both received their basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas.

25 years ago (1982)

All systems were go for the Washington State Little League Baseball Tournament, which began at Madison Field in south Everett the following afternoon. Don Hopkins, assistant director, said pre-tourney preparation had gone smoothly. Hopkins credited Larry Vines, Craig Riley and Jim Strike for preparing the field.

Misty Reistad, 9, of Marysville was one of a dozen skaters Snohomish County was sending to the United States Amateur Confederation for Roller Skating national meet in Fort Worth, Texas. Kevin Graham, 7, also of Marysville, was another state champion.
