Checking in from the Carrier Dome

Got into the Carrier Dome not too long ago, and fans are just starting to trickle in now (the students were allowed in before the general public, so there’s a couple thousand of them that have been here for a while now).
As I mentioned earlier, heat is a concern in the Carrier Dome. This is definitely the first time I’ve seen mist machines on the sidelines of an indoor football game. So far the temperature is bearable in here, not exactly cool, but not bad either. Of course, I’m saying this before anyone has shown up save those couple thousand students.
One thing worth noting from a football standpoint: when the Huskies were out warming up a bit without pads (they’re back in the locker room now), kicker Ryan Perkins was hitting some field goals in the 44 to 48-yard range that were going in with room to spare. I’ve written about it in the past, but Perkins is coming off two major knee surgeries on his kicking leg, so it’s a good sign for him to be showing some good range.
