Halftime update

Well it looks like my last post jinxed the Husky offense in a good way. Since I said they were struggling to move the ball, the Huskies have rattled off two 80 yard touchdown drives.
So does this mean Jake Locker’s adjustment period to college football took two drives? He has looked better throwing, and been awfully impressive running the ball, but let’s remember that Syracuse had one of the worst defenses in the nation last season before we get too excited.
Unofficially I’ve got Locker with 58 rushing yards and a touchdown on eight carries in the second quarter. His only first-quarter run was a one-yard loss.
Louis Rankin was impressive in the first scoring drive running and catching the ball, and scored the game’s first touchdown on a 13 yard run. Locker scored his first college touchdown on a 1-yard run to make it 14-3.
Syracuse ended the half with a 42-yard field goal to make it 14-6. It could have been worse were it not for safety Nate Williams. It looked like Syracuse quarterback Andrew Robinson had connected with Taj Smith for a touchdown on the third-down play before the field goal, but Williams came in at the last moment and knocked the ball out of Smith’s hands. Not a bad college debut for Williams, a freshman from Burien’s Kennedy High School.
