Wednesday update

A few updates from today. On the injury front, we learned that defensive tackle Jordan Reffett suffered some sort of bruise yesterday, but that it wasn’t anything that should limit him. Backup DT Erick Lobos also has some sort of minor ankle injury, but that doesn’t sound like it will limit his practice time.
Cornerback Byron Davenport, who injured his left hamstring last Thursday, then aggravated it in the Boise State game, has been limited this week. Davenport missed most of fall camp and the Syracuse game after injuring his right hamstring.
Davenport said he has never been injured before, and called his injuries “frustrating.”
Linebackers Dan Howell and Donald Butler both appear to be 100 percent. Howell said he tweaked his knee against Boise State, but is fully participating in practice. Butler was bothered throughout August by swelling in his surgically repaired knee, but he says he is good to go. Butler has been splitting time at the middle linebacker position with Trenton Tuiasosopo. Tyrone Willingham said that he would continue to use both linebackers for now.
Offensive guard Casey Bulyca, who suffered what he called a minor case of bruised ribs against Boise State, took limited snaps yesterday according to Willingham. In a something of a surprise, Willingham said today that Cody Habben would likely shift to guard if Bulyca couldn’t play or was limited against Ohio State. Habben has been splitting time at left tackle with Ben Ossai, but apparently Willingham think he would be the team’s best option to fill in for Bulyca. Matt Sedillo is currently listed as Bulyca’s backup at right guard.
Finally, this has nothing to do with the Huskies, but it’s college football related, so I thought I’d pass it along. It’s a story by the L.A. Times’ Bill Plaschke about former USC kicker Mario Danelo, who died in January. I didn’t hear about it at the time, but it his former teammates found a very cool way to honor Danelo in the Trojans’ season opener against Idaho.
