A couple of injury updates

Had a chance to talk to a couple of injured UW players a few minutes ago, and both sounded optimistic about their chances to play against UCLA.
Cornerback Byron Davenport sounded excited to get back on the field, especially against his old team. Davenport, who was then known as Byron Velaga, played at UCLA before transferring for non-football reasons.
Davenport injured his left hamstring in the first week of August, and finally recovered from that only to injure his other hamstring two days before the Boise State game. He played four plays in that game, but aggravated the right hamstring injury and did not play against Ohio State.
He said today that he is coming along well, and was confident he would be able to play against his former team. Davenport was limited in practice yesterday, and will up the intensity today, so how that goes and how he feels tomorrow will go a long way to determining if and how much he can play.
Linebacker Dan Howell, who missed last week’s game with a minor knee injury, was also confident he would play. Howell admitted that he wasn’t his usual self last week, though he tried to convince himself otherwise. He said he’s not quite 100 percent, but “pretty darn close” to it.
