Arlington: Observe salmon spawning

Biologists expect a run of pink salmon to swim through the Stillaguamish River this fall. The salmon should be spawning now, and because they usually die after spawning, visitors to the Stillaguamish River may see some carcasses.

In mid-October, chum salmon are expected to spawn in the Stillaguamish and its side channels. Then in late November and December, coho salmon are expected in Arlington’s smaller streams.

If you are interested in finding places to observe salmon without bothering their breeding patterns, e-mail Bill Blake at the city of Arlington at bblake@ci.arlington.wa.us.
